I've taken my kids to see two movies in the past two weeks. The first was the new Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." This movie has high production value. But, when it was 1.5 hours into it, and I realized I still had another 45 minutes, I wasn't happy. Plus, the ending seemed to be cut short. A huge event happens and poof! it's over. Don't get me wrong; I was thrilled to be out of there.
Next up: "G Force." As much as I love the idea of talking guinea pigs wanting to be secret agents in the FBI, I hated this movie. I spent most of the time trying to figure out which actors were giving voice to the animated characters. I could only figure out two of them, which frustrated the hell out of me. (I pride myself on my strong voice recognition abilities and knowledge of Hollywood actors, among other useless talents/information.) I had brought my book (and reading light) with me, as I always do when I take my kids to the movies. But, my younger son was so excited for me to see the movie with him that I didn't have the heart to crack open the book.
Now they're talking about seeing the new Transformers movie. I think I'll take them to "The Hurt Locker" instead.
